There is nothing that I like more than throwing a fabulous party. So when my turn to host Bunco was coming around, I had to find a fabulous theme! I visited the awesome Hostess with the Mostess Blog (what did we do before blogs??), and scoured the pages for some much needed inspiration. I came across this amazing Parisian-themed Baby Shower. I was super inspired and created this adorable invitation (seen below with glassine envelopes from ClearBags.com) using some clipart that I found.

Food and fun and prizes were had by all! It was such a great party, I can’t wait for next year! The straws, cupcake papers and striped bags are all from Fort & Field.

So it has taken me a long time to decide what the nursery was going to look like. We did find out that we are having a BOY so that rules out pink… I had been thinking aqua/teals and greys but it just wasn’t exciting me. After talking to Mr. Project about dressers, he decided he would rather build his own than buy one. So we set to designing what it would look like and be made of. We decided to go modern and streamlined and make a 6-drawer birch dresser with stainless steel knobs from Restoration Hardware. I still hadn’t decided on colors, but I really wanted to use a big chevron for the bumper pads. I looked at available colors, and almost went with blue/cream, but that just didn’t feel right. So I asked Mr. Project if he thought yellow (my favorite color) was too girly for a boy’s nursery. He didn’t think so at all (he does love bright colors), so I went a little crazy and created this “inspiration board” for the room. The dresser is Mr. Project’s finished dresser, and the crib is a graphic I made that represents the crib that Mr. Project is going to make in a few weeks. Check it out:
The art, I am going to make by cutting vinyl and applying it to birch plywood sheets. The final design will be different – this art I found on etsy and modified to look closer to what I’m envisioning. The lamp is from Overstock.com and I’ll replace the shade with a white drum shade covered in some grey/white mod fabric. The chair is an Eames Rocker from DWR. The yellow side table shown is from Bellacor, but I am hoping to find a vintage table at a garage sale and paint it sunshine yellow. The grey damask rug is from Overstock, I really wanted something a little more mod/boyish, but for the price, this one is great, and I really don’t want to spend too much on a baby rug that will probably get pooped on. The ceramic elephant is perfect… but it’s no longer being sold at West Elm… so I have to find something else, but I can dream about this cute little elephant. For the bedding, I am planning to make the bumpers with yellow chevron fabric and steel gray piping (already ordered), and I’ve found some steel gray sheets and just need to find/make a white pleated crib skirt and add a yellow stripe to the bottom… shouldn’t be too hard, right??
So that is the plan! I just got to get it all together and add some more accents here and there. Oh and the best part… if the baby boy turns out to be a baby girl, I won’t have to redecorate!

This was my very first time at Quilt Market and boy was it a whirlwind of a day. I had such a great time meeting lots of people. The market itself is big and full of inspiration. My favorite inspiration was all the beautiful quilts and projects which just made me want to REALLY learn how to sew. There were so many great ones, here are just a few that I was able to snap shots of…
I also saw the most beautiful fabric including Poppy Patterns by Laura Gunn. I actually met her and she was so nice. I really can’t wait to get my hands on this fabric! So different from what I have on hand.
Speaking of meeting people……. drumroll please…. We met Heather Bailey and best of all Carina was brave enough to actually talk to her and bug her for a photo so that we actually have proof of this meeting. She was so sweet and kind and actually a little shy which only makes her more sweet and kind. It was pretty awesome. (that’s Carina Gardner and Deena Rutter on the other side of me)
We also met Lizzy House who designs some super adorable fabric and also wrote a great book on breaking into the quilting industry.
I feel silly because I forgot to actually take a picture of Riley Blake‘s booth, which is the awesome manufacturer that I am designing some fabric for as well as work with through My Mind’s Eye on a lot of projects. But they are amazing and you should definitely check out all their great fabric. Well we’re exhausted here but had a great day at Market.

I just happen to live in the coolest city in America – San Francisco! I just barely moved here though and so I’m just starting to venture out into the awesomness. This week, my friend Carina came to visit me. Both of us have blogs, so we grabbed our cameras and headed out onto the street!
What better way to start a day in california than at Sprinkles cupcakes! For some reason I didn’t get any pictures of the outside of the store or the cupcakes. But at least you get to see Carina sitting in a chocolate colored Bertoia Chair…
After we got over the inital sugar coma and did a little shopping in Palo Alto, we decided to find some fun shops in San Francisco. One of our most fun stores was a tiny antique shop called Cole Valley Antiques . They are close to Cole Hardware right around Cole & Parnassus. This little store had some really beautiful antiques. I loved the china, and all the gorgeous vintage jewelry. Its really a great place for vintage inspired brides! They even do appointments with bridal parties to pick out all matching jewelry. Of course no photo collage is complete without carina being goofy…
While in search of the perfect fabric store (for some drape project I’m working on), we came across a few great shops on Clement St. My favorite was Fleurt… They have all these great home accessories and they make the most beautiful fresh flower arrangements. Its definitely worth a visit when you just want a fun day shopping in this unique city.
