So I finally found the time to print my own weekly planner as well as get it spiral bound. There are lots of ways you can have this printed and bound. This is how I made mine. It took about 30 minutes to print and I just walked over to the local copy store to get it bound. So all in all it was pretty fast and easy.

I set my personal printer to print. This took about 30 minutes. I printed all my sheets single-sided because I wanted the opposite side of paper to be blank for notes and doodles. You could also glue a photo onto the opposite page for a photo-a-week project in 2010.

You could also print on both sides for all the weekly pages to save on paper.

I printed all my chore sheets single-sided as well because I wanted to trim them down to just each week.

Before Getting the book bound. I trimmed out all the chore sheets and taped each week onto the opposing page with that weekly schedule. Then after the book was spiral bound, I removed the tape. You could also just place a sheet at the beginning of a month or all together at the beginning of the planner. Whatever works easiest for you. I’d love to see how you’ve printed your planner. If you have pictures on your blog please post a link so I can go check them out!

I can’t wait to come out with a 2011 version with lots of new updates and tweeks, especially as I use mine this year, I’m sure I’ll have lots of changes! If you’re interested in purchasing the PDF file to print your own planner, visit my shop at Design House Digital

After quite a few requests for a more comprehensive planner, I created this 2010 Weekly Planner. Complete with yearly schedule of chores to keep your household organized.

There are 52 Week at a glance sheets that have daily chores, notes, menu, and a shopping list:

The best part of this printable PDF is the yearly chore chart:

Every day of the year is accounted for with all the chores that will keep your household organized and completely managed. Even items like backing up hard drives, filing receipts, scheduling carpet cleaning are all in there. If you can more or less stick to the schedule, your house will look amazing every single day, and you’ll wonder what to do with all your free time!

And that’s not all…the Printable PDF File also includes a Perpetual Birthday Calender so you can keep special dates organized and easy to access all year long.

This planner is a bit bigger than my normal PDFs – 67 pages! So I am selling it for $12.99 at Design House Digital.

Happy organizing!

So a few weeks ago I got an email from a random someone saying that they found my blog in Woman’s Day Magazine. I was having a really bad morning, and it made me feel almost completely better to hear that great piece of news! It took me a few days to actually get a hold of a copy of the January 2010 Woman’s Day Magazine. But it was incredibly amazing to see my blog in print and in a very cool organizational article! Hopefully lots of good things will come from it!

To see the full article, you can either grab the magazine or visit their website. Thanks everyone for visiting and commenting and making it worth my time to keep this blog up and running!

Are you ready for a whole new decade?? A whole new chance to be the person you’ve always wanted to be? I never really understood new years resolutions till a few years ago. Now I love them. I love setting goals for my life and working on making them happen. I love the promise that a whole new year brings along with it. This year I decided to help you (and me) set goals by creating a goal sheet that you could use any time — for new years resolutions or whenever you just need a little extra motivation to change something in your life.

Due to popular request, I made this PDF with “customizable fields” that you should be able to type directly into with your acrobat reader. If that doesn’t work, you can still print them out like normal and hand-write.

So what are some of your goals this decade? If it’s to get more organized, you’re in the right place! Look for more fun organizational forms soon!

Click the button to download your PDF form. This is for your personal use only. Feel free to share it on your blog, but please link back. Happy 2010!

Speaking of gifts… I had been wanting to create an easy worksheet for organizing my gift giving this year. I came up with this fun form that has spots for gift ideas, recipient information, budget, and a simple checklist. You can use this for christmas & holiday giving, its perfect for neighbor gifts too! I imagine that you can even use it year round to keep track of birthday gifts for the whole year. Have fun this holiday season and stay organized!

Soooo I’m getting ready for a move. Which basically means that I have about 15 empty boxes hanging around my apartment needing to be filled! Every time I move, I think about labeling my boxes with handy stickers but then I always end up either not making them or using a marker to write something that inevitably becomes illegible.

I thought maybe other people are having this trouble and are scouring the internet for some helpful labels. So I put together some quick labels that you can print on label paper or just print on regular paper and cut & tape when you seal up your boxes.

The fun thing about this label sheet is that the bottom has small labels. I thought it would be a great way to label all my chargers, cables and cords that get tangled and lost. This way I can keep all my cords straight and know exactly what electronics they belong to.

Download this PDF by clicking on the image or clicking here. Happy packing! Labels are for personal use only.

Kristy was planning on starting a food journal and so I thought I would join in. I have read that keeping a food journal can really help with weightloss. So I put together this cute template. Its a 1 week journal with spots for 3 meals and 3 snacks — also known as 6 small meals a day. It also has a spot for counting water. I like it because its just simple and straightforward. Also with a whole week view, there is a bit of accountability for what you’ve eaten over the course of a week! Happy food journaling!

With summer approaching, its harder to stay on schedule. I have been wanting to really organize all the chores around here so that it doesn’t feel like “catch-up” on saturday. A little bit everyday goes a long way, right? So I put together a simple weekly chore schedule that has a space for every day Monday through Saturday, as well as notes on the bottom for you to fill in all your chores and errands. Don’t forget to put things like “backup computer.” If you have kids, you could print one for each kid and hang them on the fridge.

For my personal chore chart I typed in all the small daily chores. I also as scheduled out all the weekly chores so that every day is pretty balanced between, chores, projects & errands. I found the cutest clipboard at Target so I made my design green to match – it’s so cute it makes me want to actually DO the chores!

If you are computer savvy, you can type in notes inside of Acrobat (or Photoshop) an then print out a few master sheets that you can customize weekly. Or print one copy & hand-write all your consistent chores and then just photocopy several.

My blog will be a bit stagnant for the next two weeks, because I am going to Paris on Friday!

I’m so excited to get some great inspiration, see the sites, eat some good grub, and spend time with good friends.

I’m sure i’ll think of a million more projects to add to my to-do list. If only I could stop time and steal a few extra hours everyday to do them!

I have been wanting to make a travel checklist for a long long time. Instead of taking the time though, I usually end up with some sort of notebook with lots or very messy and illegible notes. But since I can share my checklist here, I figured this was a good trip to start being organized!

So I took a little time this morning and put together this sweet ultimate travel checklist:

Isn’t it so cute? I organized items into 4 basic lists: essentials, outfits, utilities, carry-on. There are also spaces for you to customize for your trip.

My favorite part is on the bottom – the 1 week schedule. Basically a 7-day countdown where you can put your daily errands leading up to your trip. I put a few basic ones in there, but i’m sure yours will fill up fast!

So enjoy your travels. I can’t wait to go to Paris!

Download my travel checklist and enjoy (for personal use only ).
I have the cutest little pantry in my kitchen. It is about 4.5 feet tall and has a little glass door and a nice wide ledge. Ever since I moved here, I have been wanting some fabulous and large glass canisters to put on top. I was so happy a few weeks ago, when I found these beautiful 2.5 gallon canisters at Amazon:

My birthday just happened to be this week, and I asked for three of these puppies (I put a few more on my wedding registry because I love them so much. I want to do one for Rice and one for Bread Flour).

As soon as I got them, I filled them up with flour, sugar, and rolled oats. But what I really couldn’t wait to do, was to make labels for them! Here they are looking adorable on my pantry:

The glass on these jars is a little wavy and imperfect, and I love the dark lids – they definitely have an antique feel. So I made some cute distressed labels (available for download at the end of this post). I printed and cut them out and they were super cute…

… but I really wanted them to have an older feel than just flat printed paper. So I pulled out some supplies:

> a moist/wet paper towel

> distressing ink – Tim Holtz Antique Linen & vintage photo

> emry board – fine sand paper will do

> A flat clean work surface that can get wet/messy.

I printed my labels on regular bond paper. I recommend testing your distressing process on some test paper before going at the printed items. Also if you get water on an inkjet print, it will run, so if you want to get really down and dirty, print your labels with a laser printer. I didn’t worry about the ink running on the lighter parts of the design, but I did try and keep the paper away from the letters since they are so dark.

Step 1: Crinkle your labels. I recommend bigger, deeper folds and creases. As long as the paper is dry, you can be pretty rough with it. I bent and tore and creased quite a bit so that the ink would have a lot of fun detail to hold onto:

Step 2: Wet your labels. I used a wet paper towel to dab water around the edges. You definitely want the paper soaked, but not so much that it tears or bleeds into the center. You have to work fast at this point because it needs to be pretty wet for the next step. You may want to do step 2 & step 3 to one side at a time to keep your paper from drying too fast.

Step 3: Once you have a wet edge, go ahead and use the lighter ink on the wet parts. The ink should bleed as soon as it hits the water and create a “dying” effect as opposed to an “inking” effect. This will make it look aged and not just inked. After a little light inking, I applied just a tiny bit of dark inking on some of the edges:

At this point your paper will be pretty wet and your wrinkles will have disappeared, but they will come back. Just finish each label and set them aside to dry. I let mine dry about 30 minutes. Here is how they looked after I let them sit for a bit:

I love how aged they look and how stiff they feel after drying. I will definitely use this technique on more projects in the future.

If I had printed them on a laser printer, I would have made the entire label more “dyed” looking, but I’m pretty happy with how they turned out.

Attaching the labels was really easy, I used a large glue-dot in each corner. I don’t recommend this if you have a lot of people accessing your canisters, but I know its enough adhesive for my uses with the upside being that I can change them out pretty easy when I get bored of the look. You could use spray adhesive or run them through a larger xyron after they have dryed completely. If you printed on a laser printer, I imagine you could use Mod Podge, just test it on the glass first to see if it drys clear enough.

Here is a before & after shot. I really should have taken a before shot when the pantry was covered in half-empty flour and sugar bags, paper plates & food boxes.

I love how they look, how big the labels are, and just the overall vintage styling with the large black lids + the aged labels. So yummy.

You can really see the variety in the glass from this photo. I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out!

As promised, here is the label file. I did have to make it just a smidge smaller than the one I used in order to fit all the labels on one 8.5×11.
