Last year I was asked to join the Michaels Makers team, and this year I was thrilled to be asked to return to the team. Each month I get to create a project using supplies from Michaels, and share the projects on my blog. This year as part of the program, they invited all their bloggers to a Michaels Makers Summit in gorgeous Sonoma, California. We started off with an incredible dinner party at the Long Meadow Ranch. Every detail was perfect, and the food was divine.
So much thought was put into this event, I was truly in awe of everything. And we even made flower crowns, and I met so many wonderful crafters. A shout-out to my people here – Aunt Peaches, Lia Griffith, and Jaderbomb. It was such an incredible evening.
The next morning we headed to unsurpassed The Ranch Above, which had been transformed into a crafter’s paradise by the Michaels crew. The detail and styling was stunning, and all of the makers were beyond impressed.
There was even a giant floating hash-tag in the swimming pool. Amazing!
Hanging umbrellas, and tented cabanas…
We had such a lovely day of crafting, we took four amazing classes (weaving, watercolor, paper flowers and image transfer) – all taught by Michaels education partner, Creativebug and great news – each of the classes are available online for FREE on Michaels.com until 8/22 (you can re-create one or all of our summit projects)! Here are a few shots from all my classes:
Looks pretty amazing right? It was an incredible experience to be able to go and craft with all of the amazing Michaels Makers and the Michaels team who coordinated everything for us. In case you haven’t met all 50 of this year’s Makers, check out each of our blogs and bios here! They’ll be posting about the summit as well, so its a great way to see more pics! Follow along throughout the year and feel free to create projects with us by sharing on Instagram using #MadeWithMichaels.
And I do have to show off my weaving that I took home and actually finished! I loved learning about weaving from the Creativebug folks (this weaving class is FREE until 8/22/2015). I decided to weave an “L” for Leo and hang it up in his room, that hopefully I’ll get to decorate by his birthday. Weaving is pretty easy, just time consuming. So it’s nice for a little late-night relaxation.
We ended the summit with a lovely brunch, and then a Q&A session with the Michaels CMO. The setting at the top of this mountain was beyond gorgeous, and it was great to be able to talk to the minds behind the marketing at Michaels. I have to say that my favorite part of the weekend was getting to know so many wonderful people. All of the Michaels Makers are so so so nice and incredibly creative. The Michaels team went out of there way to make this event something to remember. Every detail was attended to, and their team was friendly, kind, and helpful at every turn. Thank you Michaels for an awesome summit, hopefully there will be many more in the future!
