Craft Room Organized & paper wreath project

I posted this picture of my craft room on my instagram feed a few weeks ago. I had just cleaned up my craft room in preparation for some upcoming projects. It’s still kind of a wreck in there though because I really needed to get to the organization of the space. And basically after a few hours of working on projects, the room looks more or less like this:

Stuff piling out of the closet, drawers overflowing, floors completely covered.

Really it’s just in need of some good old fashioned purging and organizing.

Michaels asked all of the Michaels Makers to organize our craft spaces using organization products from their store. I had a business trip this month, so instead of taking the time to run to my  local store, I ordered all my supplies on Michaels.com. I ordered several large handled boxes, a few scrapbook cases (my favorite, I already have a ton), two rolling scrapbook chests, and two metal storage racks that hangs over the door.

Because I design scrapbooking supplies, I become quickly overrun by papers and stickers. I use the Scrapbook cases to divide up scrapbooking lines that I’ve designed, or my card stock stash. I have lots of piles like this of newer scrapbooking lines, that I just hadn’t gotten around to organizing.

I was able to just scoop them up, organizing by name, and start filling up all the cases in my scrapbook chests.

The chests are so nice because you can wheel them around for easy access, and the boxes don’t tip like they might do if you stack them too high. I filled up all these chests with papers I had lying around, and have enough stuff to fill about 4 more. theprojectgirl-craftroom-closet-drawers-after

I was super thrilled to find that the chests fit two across in my closet, and well below the lowest shelf. You can also see additional scrapbook cases all filled up, and above those the size of the large modular bins.

When I saw the over the door organizers, I was beyond thrilled. I have two big doors leading to my closet, and knew they would be perfect for this item. It’ comes in a really small box, and is easy to assemble. I ended up swapping some of the accessories from one door to the next to customize my configuration just how I wanted it.

I love all the components that come with the system including these chains and hooks for any flat embellishments. I used mine for ribbon so this became my ribbon door.

The other side is housing all my Cricut supplies. I LOVE the hooks that come with the system, the were the perfect depth to slide 3 vinyl rolls on.

And I tidied up all the shelves and swept for days, but finally the room is looking really nice!

My favorite thing is still the door organizers. Such a great use of wasted space, and so well designed too.

And to break in the new space, I created this paper wreath with Recollections card stock and my Cricut Explore. I created about 2/3rd of the die line files, the rest were from the Cricut Design Space.

It made a mess, but everything was much easier to clean up when stuff is organized.

Long-term weight loss & reward tracker * Free Download

I wanted to create a long-term weight loss tracker with rewards built in. I know that it’s hard to stick to a goal that is big, so breaking it up in small chunks can help. I designed this with 6 phases, but if you have less weight to lose, you can just go through one or a few. The concept  is that you set your first goal, and then break that up into 4 mini goals and set a strategy to make it happen. Once you’ve achieved your first goal, you set another goal, a revised strategy based on what you learned the first time around, and so on. Your goals don’t have to be weight-based either. If you’re interested in health changes, you can make goals that are health and behavior based, and create mini goals based on that.
