As of lover of paper, I just had to order this fancy italian floral crepe paper (in like every color). It was great to have an excuse to buy it.
In addition to the crepe paper, I pulled out all my glue guns for everyone to use including my trusty Ad tech full-size lo-temp gun (you want to always use a low temp glue gun for crepe paper). I also have to recommend this awesome silicone glue gun mat from Ad tech that keeps your work surface free of stray glue drips. You also need floral wire, and floral tape.
I printed out a handful of templates from Lia’s Site. And we all started cutting away!
Once everything is cut, it’s time for assembly. This can be a bit overwhelming, so I highly suggest watching Lia’s awesome video tutorial (over and over) to get the process down.
My favorite glue gun for making these flowers was this Ad tech Hybrid Cordless glue gun because it has a flat base which makes it super easy to grab and put down and grab again – which happens when your gluing about a million petals.
Did I mention petals?
And more petals?
But in the end it’s totally worth it because of these gorgeous flowers!
And they are BIG too!
It was a super fun craft night and fun to see all the different variations of the peonies everyone made.
And I might have tried my hand at a ranunculus… which turned out gorgeous, but I did want to give up a few times along the way.
I haven’t gotten around to making more crepe paper flowers yet, but maybe for a special occasion, I’ll get all the supplies back out and go to town! It’s fun and fast with other people making them too!
