Mini Album featuring Market Street

August 7th, 2014

Clique Kits contacted me about a month ago and told me that their new August 2014 kit was going to feature the Market Street Collection that I designed for My Mind’s Eye, and that they wanted to do a spotlight of me (I’ll link to that when its live). They were also gracious enough to send me a kit of my own to play with. What a great excuse to get some crafting done!

This kit is just full of gorgeousness. I love all of the “raw” items that they paired with my papers and embellishements. The burlap letters, cork shapes, wood textures, gold doilies etc. are just the perfect addition to my Market Street line. I especially love the mini flair, the wood hearts with gold pain, and the burlap bows!theprojectgirl-travel-mini-album-detail

I knew I wanted to create a mini scrapbook (it will look perfect sitting on my office shelves), and it was the perfect opportunity to pull out my photos of the trip I took to london in June of this year. theprojectgirl-travel-mini-album-detail2

Here’s the full album:

I love the simplicity of the cover, I used a 3×4 journaling card in the center to set the stage for a fun graphic look. I used some coral watercolor paint and flicked it onto a few of the pages to create this splatter effect. On the from I mixed in some of the Market Street Enamel dots with the splatters for some dimension.

I created the book by cutting a bunch of 5×5 white cardstock squares and adhering them to each other using washi tape. I printed and cut my photos at home and made them all 3.5×3.5. with a 1/4″ border on each side making the final size 4×4. Then I just placed a photo and embellished the page with all of the lovely things from the kit. theprojectgirl-travel-mini-album-1 theprojectgirl-travel-mini-album-2The back cover could have a little more dimension, so I added the cute deer from the kit to the back, and then wrapped the whole thing with white twine.

Which was needed to hold all the scrappy goodness together! I love mini albums that feel like pieces of art all scrapped together into a chunky little book.

Do you like to make mini albums? Do you like yours nice and neat or a little on the artsy/messy side?
