Come chat with me!

September 30th, 2011

I’m hosting a 90 minute chat at Design House Digital TODAY starting at 4pm MST. So if you are around, come and chat with me in the Chat Room! I am going to be doing a giveaway in each half-hour of the chat. Not sure what yet… but it might be parts of my new digital halloween collection! Come and ask me questions about digital scrapbooking, crafting, designing, home renovations… whatever! If you’re a digi scrapper, there is a 25% off sale on all of the kits at DHD through tonight.

Speaking of digital scrapbooking… I made this cute layout for the 1 kit 4 ways feature at Design House Digital, and had to share it with you all as proof that I actually do digital scrapbook occasionally. Making a quick layout definitely makes me want to do more scrapbooking and put together an album or calendar for grandparents for Christmas. I’ll just add that to my giant list of things to do. It also makes me miss how little Ollie was at 8 weeks old.

Blog of the Week – Royal Icing and Hand Made Gifts

September 29th, 2011

I came across a great blog a few weeks ago titled A Thousand Words and there were some really adorable projects including this awesome tutorial on creating royal icing shapes for cupcakes:

I cannot wait to try this out! Not that I need to be making cupcakes anytime soon. But check out the link for step-by-step instructions.

And then there is the super awesome Birthday Hamper that she made “on the cheap” for a good friend’s birthday gift. It turned out to be the cutest home-made gift ever known to man:

Anyway if you have some blog browsing time, I highly suggest A Thousand Words for a good read and some great inspiration!

Cherry Wood Countertop Photos

September 27th, 2011

The wood countertops are ALMOST ready! Mr. Project was putting the first few coats of “waterlox” on his cherry slab countertops.

He says that he wants to put them upstairs tonight and assemble the two pieces together!

There are two sections because the wood only comes so long and these countertops are more than 14 FEET long.

This picture is a little on the light side, the first picture is closer to the color. And they should darken A LOT in the first week once they get exposed to the western sun coming in the kitchen. I hope they get dark soon though, because I love how aged cherry looks. Mr. Project refused to stain them (he’s a wood purist), so its all time and sun from here on out!

Here is the awesome and GIANT sink just waiting to be installed:

I can’t wait to show you pictures of it in the kitchen!
