Babies are magic – Infographic

June 27th, 2011

My friend Kristy gave birth to her first baby yesterday. I am so thrilled for her and know she will have such an amazing time being a mother. I am dedicating this blog post to herย  – getting excited about her baby has really made me reflect on the past 3 months of being a new mom, and remember how miraculous those first few days were.

I’ve* decided that babies are pure magic. This is something that I don’t think you can truly understand until you have been with a baby nearly every minute of every day. There is something just so overwhelmingly wonderful about your child looking up into your eyes and giving you the biggest smile and a coo. Life suddenly becomes macro… every little thing is a HUGE thing. You become attuned to the tiny nuances of a tiny being who can only communicate through body language. There is nothing else quite like having a baby in your life. The world is new again, even toes are an endless facination. I LOVE being a mom. I really really really love being a mom.ย  Just to illustrate how magical babies really are, I made this info-graphic as a frame of reference.

If you don’t have a baby you may be incredulous, but trust me, babies are the most magical things I’ve encountered in my life. And on top of it all, they are mostly magical mostly every day, so its like re-living the magic of your wedding day times 2 EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. I’m not sure what happens when they become not babies, but for now, I’m just going to soak in all the magic I can.

*I so stole this phrase from Mary Mary whom I’m sure does not read this blog and so she cannot sue me for stealing it.

It is true about babies, though.

I couldn’t agree with this post more. My baby is 9 months old now & it continues getting better everyday. Every month is something bigger and better, and I always wonder how I could like something more than where we are, but I do!

    Love your blog!
