5 Great Fonts Under $5

March 11th, 2009 — 7:22pm

I’m always on the look out for some great fonts. There are tons of free and low-cost fonts out there, but way too many to wade through. I’m featuring 5 that I think are pretty great!

I’m way into bold fonts right now. I think they make a big statement and are the opposite of delicate script fonts (which I love too). I think I just like the contrast.

Oksana Sans Fat Free Font – Free!

I found this font and thought it would be great with photos in the letters, so I put it together with some adorable pics and my Nuts & Bolts Steel Kit for this effect:

Geometrix – $3.85  There is just something so yummy about this distressed block font. Yum!

Fat Hatch – 3.oo – I love scribble fonts. This is a great fat font – I told you, I’m into the big bold fonts!

Santa – 3.00 – I thought this was a cool variation on an engraved font. I love the little swirls. I may have to use this for some of my christmas releases this year.

Pea Stacy’s New Doodles – Free – If you love doodles – and I do – you have to download this great free font from Kevinandamanda.com. Ton’s of cute little doodles and they are free! I definitely had to share this great find.

Buy Handmade

March 11th, 2009 — 10:07am

With the increased awareness of websites like Etsy.com. I think everyone is a little bit more prone to “Buy Handmade” these days. I personally love browsing through shops on etsy, I love most everything I see there. Maybe its the crafter in me, but I can just feel the love emanating from these products. So lets all support other crafters out there as much as we can.

Here are a few of my etsy favorites right now:

Kimmy at Shy Fox Lane has the most adorable items. She is meticulous to every detail including her packaging. Which we all know is so important. Look at this adorable paper-crafted cupcake! cute enough to eat!

I found this lovely while searching for bridal jewelry. Am I fabulous enough to wear it? The world may never know. All I know is that I want to just look at it for days and days.

Back to paper crafting… I am completely in love with layered buttons right now. Or any buttons. I love buttons! Here are some fabulous embellishements from Evalicious:

And last but not least… Are you kidding me?! I love this kind of stuff. Felt food for the kids to play with. How much fun is that! Buggabug’s shop only sells the patterns, but heavens to betsy, they are so stinking cute! I want to have a small child just so I can play with them and not look like a dork.

When buying homemade whether its from etsy or another store, there is always something for everyone, I’m sure you’ll find many many somethings that  you’ll adore too! Share your favorites with me, I’d love to see them!

The Ultimate Travel Checklist!

March 9th, 2009 — 12:27pm

My blog will be a bit stagnant for the next two weeks, because I am going to Paris on Friday!

paris
I’m so excited to get some great inspiration, see the sites, eat some good grub, and spend time with good friends.

I’m sure i’ll think of a million more projects to add to my to-do list. If only I could stop time and steal a few extra hours everyday to do them!

I have been wanting to make a travel checklist for a long long time. Instead of taking the time though, I usually end up with some sort of notebook with lots or very messy and illegible notes. But since I can share my checklist here, I figured this was a good trip to start being organized!

So I took a little time this morning and put together this sweet ultimate travel checklist:

theprojectgirlcom-travelIsn’t it so cute? I organized items into 4 basic lists: essentials, outfits, utilities, carry-on. There are also spaces for you to customize for your trip.

My favorite part is on the bottom – the 1 week schedule. Basically a 7-day countdown where you can put your daily errands leading up to your trip. I put a few basic ones in there, but i’m sure yours will fill up fast!

So enjoy your travels. I can’t wait to go to Paris!

Download my travel checklist and enjoy (for personal use only ). Please tell your friends to come visit the site and download their own checklist. I would love a comment if you do download!

Each of these files are a 8.5″x11″ PDF. Use Acrobat Reader to open the file and print as many as you like! Happy traveling!

If you are another blog or website and would like to link this project to your site, please contact me. Thanks!

xoxo Jen Allyson
